Studio Kasi was born in Calcutta, inspired by the intrinsic character of the city. The brand was created to bring Indian clothing with a uniquely traditional identity to the modern world and for the modern woman. The word “Kasi” comes from the Sanskrit word meaning “light” and it shines a light on the heritage, beauty and old-world charm of Calcutta. 

Kasi was founded in 2023 by Urvashi Gupta when she was back in her hometown, Calcutta, after a decade of living across the US and UK. Her experiences strengthened her belief that Indian designs have a story to tell in the global fashion market, focusing on sustainable, natural fabrics, ancient artisan techniques, unique craftsmanship, and vibrant colors that are such an integral part of the Indian identity.
